Determining your
definite purpose for you business should be established immediately
before you decide your area of interest for your business. The
reason for this is because you don't want to lock yourself into
something that you don't enjoy doing or aren't passionate about.
Your personal passions should be aligned with the definite purpose
of your business and they should work hand in hand to help you
achieve the success you are personally looking for in business as
well as in life. So the first thing you should do is take inventory
on your dreams, goals, and passions and find out which one is number
one in your life.
Your primary purpose is the ultimate
goal or dream you can imagine yourself accomplishing within your
lifetime. To establish this purpose, you need to really dig deep
within your thoughts to find the reason for which you want to
succeed or what will make your life satisfying.
The reason your definite purpose must create a burning desire within
you is because it is the very fuel you need in order to accomplish
your primary purpose. It must be so desirable, so wanted, that you
must have it no matter what.
Dreams are what your definite purpose is made from. Without dreams,
nothing would ever happen. Dreams are the things (material or
otherwise) you want in your life that you don't have and can't
easily obtain. Don't limit your dreams to just a few things that you
can easily get without little effort, though they may still be
dreams at this time. Open up your imagination. Think of it as where
you want to exit. If you are working at a job, your exit is when you
reach age 65 and you will need 2 to 3 thousand dollars a month in
order to live comfortably. But why settle for that! Why not want a
monthly income of 10 or 20 thousand dollars per month when you
retire? You can have this if you really want it?
You need to determine what you want in life before it can ever be
possible. Whatever that is, make it your definite purpose.
Everything you do from that point on will be directed toward that
primary purpose until it is achieved.
So, how do you determine your primary purpose? The first step is to
take inventory on yourself. Write down everything you want in life.
Car, house, family, a successful business, a million dollars...
where do you want to live, where do you want to visit... who you
want to help, who you want to serve... when you would like to
retire. The list is endless and should be built upon each and every
day.
Take your first step toward business success and start this process
now. Determine your primary purpose by writing down all of your
wants in life. Once you stop, examine your list. Which one of the
dreams (monetarily speaking) is the biggest on your list? This is
your primary purpose. Circle it, make it bold, make it stand out
from the rest.
Your business is one of your forms of leverage toward financial
success. Your business is also its own entity, even though it is
yours. It must also have a definite purpose all of its own; every
business has its own definite purpose. Once you figure out what you
are truly passionate about, you need to repeat the process for your
business.
Once you know the definite purpose for your business, you must
create a plan to achieve your definite purpose as quickly as
possible. |
